SHREK THE MUSICAL - Fredericksburg Theater Company Non Equity Auditions

Fredericksburg Theater Company’s Summer 2025 and Season 29 opener will be Shrek The Musical. Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears.

Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek.... And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek. Irreverently fun for the whole family, Shrek proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.

Betty Hukill will be the director, Dawn Hahn is music directing and choreography will be done by Lisa Bonhert. Performances will be June 13-29, 2025. A sample rehearsal schedule will be available at auditions. Some rehearsals will be need to be on weekends depending on actors availability.

Please prepare TWO audition pieces: one upbeat and one ballad from Shrek OR any other musical. Each audition piece should not exceed 2 minutes. Bring sheet music or a track to sing along with. There will be an adapter for any phones or iPads. Please no acapella auditions.

There will be cold readings from the script. Scripts are available for 48 hrs in the FTC box office, Monday-Friday 9:00am-1:00pm.

There will be a brief movement audition so please dress accordingly.
