ROMEO AND JULIET - Bainbridge Performing Arts

BPA AUDITIONS for ROMEO & JULIET
Tuesday, March 13 & Thursday, March 15 @ 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.
at Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA)

Bainbridge Performing Arts is pleased to announce AUDITIONS for ROMEO & JULIET, March 13 and 15 at BPA. One of the Bard’s most popular romantic tragedies, ROMEO & JULIET centers on a long feud between the Montague and Capulet families that disrupts the city of Verona and causes tragic results for Romeo and Juliet. Revenge, love, and a secret marriage force the young star-crossed lovers to grow up quickly — and fate causes them to take their own lives in despair. BPA transforms the Bloedel meadow in this classic tale that’s not to be missed.

Run dates are July 13, 14, 15, 19, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28 and 29, with a Pay-What-You-Can Preview July 12. Rehearsals are May 5 through July 11: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. plus Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

ROMEO & JULIET includes roles for 12 – 16 men, ages 16 and up and 5 – 10 women, ages 16 and up. Those auditioning are requested to prepare a memorized one to one-and-a-half-minute Shakespearean or classical (pre-1900) dramatic and/or comedic monologue for their audition. The monologue should not be from ROMEO & JULIET. All roles are open to audition, and interested parties may view a complete listing of characters online at
www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org/collections/auditions.

Director Kate Carruthers directed Much Ado About Nothing, BPA’s 4th annual summertime Shakespeare performance, at The Bloedel Reserve in July 2016 and is pleased to return to direct ROMEO & JULIET this summer. Kate’s BPA directing credits include August: Osage County, Amadeus, Snow Falling on Cedars, The Kentucky Cycle, Distracted, Private Eyes, Arcadia, The Grapes of Wrath, Picasso at the Lapin Agile (2006), More Fun Than Bowling, Anton in Show Business, Art, and The Philadelphia Story.

Don’t miss this opportunity to play a role in BPA’s 6th Annual Summertime Shakespeare performance. BPA AUDITIONS for ROMEO & JULIET are Tuesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 15 at 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. Auditions are by appointment only, and interested parties are requested to email
