MACBETH Casting Breakdown

Shakespeare on the Sound is seeking NON-UNION adult and child actors for their 2017 production of MACBETH by William Shakespeare.

AUDITION DATE & LOCATION

Sunday, April 9, 2017

Men from 1pm-3pm

Children from 3pm-6pm

OPEN CALL

The Studio for Performing Arts, 26 Forest St., New Canaan, CT

Prepare: Men should prepare a 1 minute dramatic Shakespeare monologue. Children will read from sides and participate in group improv.

SEEKING

One man, three boys, and two girls of any ethnicity (two of the boys and the girls will alternate the role).

DATES

Rehearsal dates May 22-June 10 in NYC. *Children will rehearse on weekends.

Must be available on Tuesday, May 22 10am-6pm for first rehearsal.

Must be available June 11-16 from 11am-10pm for technical rehearsals.

Opening: June 17

Closing: July 2

*MACBETH performs nightly 5:30pm-10:30pm except Mondays.

PAY

Duncan/Siward $400 per week

Children are unpaid.

BREAKDOWN

Duncan/Siward:

50-60's. Duncan is the King who is brutally murdered by Macbeth..A strong and just ruler and a figureof indisputable authority. Generous with praise for Macbeth and Banquo, who have foughtbravely for him. Siwardis a brave general.

Macduff's Son:

10-13 (the younger looking the better) Son to the Macduff's, a bright, articulate boy, clever, sweet, feisty. Killed onstage. Role will be double cast and boys will alternate nightly.

Fleance

To play age 13-15. Banquo's son, who survives Macbeth's attempt to murder him.

Macduff's Daughter

7-9. Non-speaking. Youngest in a close-knit family. Looks up to her brother and adores her mother. Role will be double cast and girls will alternate nightly.
