This is a community theater production. All acting roles are unpaid.
Nine Performances will be held on Aug 10, 11*, 11, 12*, 16, 17, 18*, 18 and 19* at the Athens Theatre.
Evening performances start at 730p
*Saturday & Sunday Matinees start at 230p.
This production is under the Professional Direction of Gary Cadwallader, with Musical Direction by Chris Endsley and Choreography by Kim Ball
Based on the 1988 John Waters film Hairspray features loveable plus-size heroine, Tracy Turnblad, who has a passion for dancing, and wins a spot on the local TV dance program, "The Corny Collins Show." Overnight she finds herself transformed from outsider to teen celebrity. Can a larger-than-life adolescent manage to vanquish the program's reigning princess, integrate the television show, and find true love without mussing her hair?
AUDITION INFORMATION:
Seeking Actors Ages 13-30 (or a smidge older??)
PREPARATION:
- A one minute memorized - age appropriate - comedic monologue
- Any Broadway style song 16-32 bars to showcase your singing voice. Audition accompanist will be available.
