The Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts and Lythgoe Family Panto are pleased to announce that open auditions for A SNOW WHITE CHRISTMAS will be held at Crabtree Valley Mall this weekend on Sunday, September 15, 2019. Judges are seeking kids ages 8–14, of all ethnicities, to take the stage alongside just-announced stars Garrett Clayton (Hairspray Live!, Disney’s Teen Beach movies) as the Huntsman and Jared Gertner (The Book of Mormon) as Muddles. Neil Patrick Harris (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, How I Met Your Mother) will star as the Magic Mirror via video projection. Additional stars will be announced later.

The creative team for A SNOW WHITE CHRISTMAS includes newly announced choreographers Napoleon and Tabitha D’umo (NappyTabs), Emmy Award winners for their work on the hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance, director and choreographer Bonnie Lythgoe (So You Think You Can Dance) will direct.

A SNOW WHITE CHRISTMAS will run at the Duke Energy Center November 30–December 8, 2019. The star-led production blends fairytales, comedy, the holidays, dancing, contemporary songs and local and regional references to create an unforgettable theater experience. The age-old fairytale of Snow White is given a modern twist with pop


music, from Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” to Huey Lewis and the News’s “Power of Love,” The Village People’s “YMCA” and more.

An updated version of the classic fairytale, Princess Snow White joins forces with the Seven Dwarves to defeat her wicked Aunt the Queen. In the style of British Panto, audiences are encouraged to interact, booing the baddies and cheering for the hero.

The schedule for A SNOW WHITE CHRISTMAS auditions this weekend is as follows:

12:00pm Registration opens for Snow White kids’ auditions (age 8–14)

1:00pm Auditions begin

  • Audition registration will begin promptly at 12:00 pm at the Crabtree Valley Mall Promo Court (lower level below the food court). To expedite registration, those auditioning should print and fill out the registration form
    here.
  • Kids should come prepared to dance; wear comfortable clothes, soft sole shoes or jazz shoes, and bring water.
  • All auditions will end by 5:00 pm.
  • A rehearsal schedule and performance dates will be provided later.
