Audition Requirements
Bring headshot and resume, as well as your calendar to note any conflicts during the rehearsal process and run of the show. Be prepared for cold readings from the script. No sides.
Short Synopsis:
Set on Chicago's South Side, 1958, the plot revolves around the divergent dreams and conflicts within the three generations of the Younger family, a poor African American family.
Casting the following roles:
LENA YOUNGER (F 50's - 70's) African-American. Mama, matriarch of the family,
religious, moral, maternal, seeing to the family's future.
WALTER LEE YOUNGER (M 30's - 40's) African American, son of Lena, man of the house, disgruntled, dreamer, trying to be a problem solver, confused as to his male role.
BENEATHA YOUNGER (F 18 - 20's) African American, daughter of Lena, college student, spoiled, sassy, looking for her identity.
RUTH YOUNGER (F Mid 20's - 40's) African American, wife of Walter, mother of Travis, peacemaker in family, hard working, selfless, emotionally strong.
TRAVIS YOUNGER (M Teen To play 12) African American, likable but spoiled child of Ruth and Walter.
JOSEPH ASAGAI (M Mid 20's - 30's) African college student from Nigeria, one of Beneatha's suitors, mannerly, passionate about his heritage.
GEORGE MURCHISON (M Mid 20's - 30's) African American, Beneatha's other suitor, college student, from a wealthy family, arrogant, assimilated, good looking.
BOBO (M 50's - 60's) African American, one of Walter's partners in the liquor store plan, dim-witted.
KARL LINDNER (M 40-50s) Caucasian, a weak and ineffectual white man that is sent on behalf of the Clybourne Park Improvement Committee to visit the Younger family.
MOVING MEN (M Open age) African-American. A moving men who helps the Youngers move out of their apartment. May be on Stage Crew.
