Yardley Players to Present A FLEA IN HER EAR at MCCC's Kelsey Theatre, 9/20-29

Mix-ups, misplaced jealousies, mistaken identities and madcap chases abound as the upper crust of French society cavorts in "A Flea in Her Ear." The Yardley Players present this hilarious French farce Fridays, Sept. 20 and 27 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sept. 21 and 28 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Sept. 22 and 29 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on Sept. 20. (Patrons who use Old Trenton Road should allow extra time for the detour due to closure of the bridge at Edinburg Road.)

Penned in 1907 by the French playwright Georges Feydeau, this latest version by David Ive retains the original show's merriment, while adding some wackiness that keeps it as fresh and funny today as it was a century ago. Raymonde, the wife of Chandebise, suspects him of having an affair and decides to catch him in the act. Her plot backfires, leading to a rapid succession of twists and turns as the entire cast ends up at a hotel that is known for romantic rendezvous. What follows is nothing short of chaos as cast members chase each other through doors, over beds, out windows and more.

The cast features Roman Sohor of Parlin as Victor Chandebise/Poche; Nicole Spadafino of Flemington as Raymonde Chandebise; Maureen Hackett of Robbinsville as Lucienne Homenides DeHistangua; Wayne Rossignol of Hamilton as Dr. Finache; Joe Zedeny of East Windsor as Romain Tournel; Mark Swift of Hamilton as Camille Chandebise; Theo Varga of Medford as Don Carlos Homenides DeHistangua; Michael Gonzalez of Columbus as Etienne; Mike McCollum of Feasterville, Pa., as Ferraillon; Stephanie Moon of Yardville as Antoinette; Kathy Kutalek of Hightstown as Olympia; Theodocia Rovira of Hamilton as Eugenie; Walter Smyth of Trevose, Pa., as Baptiste; and Kevin Hallam of Hamilton as Rugby.

The production crew includes producer Marge Swider of Yardley, Pa., director Mike Diiorio of Hamilton, costumer Louisa Murey of Hamilton, lighting designer M. Kitty Getlik of Hamilton and sound designer ike Almstedt of Hamilton.
