Tony Award Winning composer and lyricist William Finn will speak at Kean University on March 1st at 3:30 in the University Center Little Theatre, 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ, as part of the 2010 Premiere Stages Artists Series. Premiere Stages, the professional theatre in residence at Kean invites the public to this candid conversation about writing and composing for Broadway.

Finn is the composer and lyricist of acclaimed Broadway musicals including Falsettos, Elegies, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which the Kean University Theatre Department performs this spring. Finn will discuss his career trajectory and current projects, and will offer insights into the creation and original production of "...Spelling Bee." Audience members are encouraged to attend this talk in conjunction with the Theatre Department's production of this Tony Award winning musical, called "irresistible," "lovable" and "refreshing" by the New York Times.

The Premiere Artists Series is a collaboration with Kean University's College of Visual and Performing Arts to bring world-class theatre professionals to campus for master classes, lectures, and networking with students. These events often lead to internships, assistantships, and jobs with the visiting artists.

Past visiting artists who have participated in the Premiere Artists Series include Woodie King, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Norbert Leo Butz, Olympia Dukakis, John Lee Beatty, Rick Sordelet, Kim Zimmer and Lee Blessing.

Admission and parking for the Premiere Artists Series is free, but reservations are strongly recommended. Visit www.kean.edu/premierestages or call 908-737-4092 for more information and to reserve tickets.
