The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will hold its highly celebrated annual fundraiser gala, "Brush Up Your Shakespeare," on March 29 at the Park Avenue Club in Florham Park. Artistic Director Bonnie J. Monte and the Board of Trustees of The Shakespeare Theatre are proud to announce that Prudential, a major supporter of The Shakespeare Theatre, will be the 2008 Gala Sponsor.   This annual Shakespeare Theatre event kicks off each season and is the theatre's largest fundraiser of the year.   Gala attendees mingle with acclaimed theatre, film and television artists and other VIPs while enjoying gourmet food and drink, a silent auction that promises unique offerings and friendly competition, and a renowned cabaret show featuring stage, screen and television luminaries.  Proceeds benefit The Shakespeare Theatre's productions as well as numerous education programs that benefit more than 100,000 adults, students, teachers, and young artists annually.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction in the Park Avenue Club's elegant Main Dining Room. Guests may bid on over 100 offerings, including private theatre parties held in the Shakespeare Theatre's Prudential Treehouse; tickets to "The Colbert Report" along with the opportunity to meet Mr. Stephen Colbert; a glimpse into the inner workings of the theatre with a day spent with Artistic Director Bonnie J. Monte; a Tahitian pearl necklace with matching earrings from Iridesse and Broadway show tickets.

The auction is followed by dinner in the beautiful South Pavilion.   Afterwards, guests will enjoy a fabulous cabaret show of music and comedy sketches.  The cabaret features notable performers from stage and screen including Broadway veteran Robert Cuccioli, New York Cabaret legend Baby Jane Dexter, Broadway star Mark Jacoby, Rhys Coiro from HBO's hit series Entourage and Tamara Tunie from NBC's series Law and Order: SVU.

Scharron Little serves as the Silent Auction Chair.   The Gala Committee members include Jacqueline E. Brevard, Pamela F. Craven, Kathleen B. Clingan, Ann Drzik, Pamela Fiander, T. Randolph Harris, Pamela P. Hirsch, Richard B. McGlynn, Mary O'Malley, Anisa Mehdi and Karl Meister.

Gala tickets range from $350 to $1,000 per person and there are numerous sponsorship opportunities available. A portion of each ticket is tax-deductible to the fullest extent provided by law.
