Retreat to Broadway Hosts FALSETTOS Talk Back Q&A with Stephanie J. Block

By: Jul. 05, 2017

The recently Tony-nominated Best Revival of a Musical, Falsettos, is being screened nationwide in select cinemas starting this month. Retreat to Broadway is hosting a Talk Back Q&A with one of the Tony-nominated stars of the Broadway revival and movie, Stephanie J. Block, following the July 12 screening at Bow Tie Cinemas in South Orange, NJ. The thirty-minute question-and-answer-session starts immediately following the 7:00 p.m. movie at the nearby South Orange Performing Arts Center. For all ticket information, visit: https://www.artful.ly/store/events/12545.

This Talk Back Q&A event benefits Retreat to Broadway, a national non-profit project that pairs innovative programming with live theater. Their program categories (Educational, Professional, Social & Spiritual) provide unique experiences of inspiration, renewal, and transformation for any audience of any size, age or location. Participants have access to their exclusive Retreat to Broadway Speakers Bureau, a group of 10 pre-approved theater professionals who are available to speak privately to retreat groups. All July 12 event proceeds benefit future Retreat to Broadway programming and their scholarship program that assists participants who experience financial hardship.

Speakers Bureau member, Stephanie J. Block, recently reflected upon seeing the movie premiere with her Broadway cast last month in New York City: "I wasn't sure if a filmed version of Falsettos would translate in a way that would truly capture its emotion, humor and impact. But I am thrilled to say that PBS/LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER 'got it!' Seeing it on the big screen for the first time kept me paralyzed in my seat; I hardly took a breath because of the expectation and anticipation. The cast held hands and wept. We were in awe of each other and the beauty, humor and power of this story. I'm honored, grateful and overwhelmed knowing that Falsettos is now forever preserved and will be shared nationwide."

Retreat to Broadway's Director & Founder, Brian Reavey, added, "After seeing Falsettos multiple times on Broadway this past season, and after being deeply moved in powerful ways during each performance, I knew instantly we had to facilitate programming around this transformative musical. The cast and their talent in this production are as profound and indelible as the themes Falsettos tackles and embraces. We're ecstatic and thankful to have Stephanie share her time and experience with us in North Jersey immediately following the movie screening on July 12."
