KODACHROME to Close Bergen County Players' 93rd Season

Bergen County Players will conclude its spectacular 93rd season with Kodachrome, a one-act comedy by Adam Szymkowicz. Running as part of BCP's Second Stage for three exclusive performances on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, 2026, this production invites audiences to find extraordinary magic within ordinary lives. Showtimes are Saturday at 2 PM and 8 PM and Sunday at 2 PM. All tickets are $20.

Kodachrome takes audiences into the heart of Colchester, a small town with a big soul. The story unfolds through the lens of the local photographer who invites the audience to peek into her neighbors' lives. In the spirit of Thornton Wilder's classic Our Town, the play beautifully captures glimpses of romance in all its stages, exploring love, nostalgia, the changing seasons, and the bittersweet art of saying goodbye. Broadway World praises the script, noting, "The characters' struggles, hopes, and fears will likely feel familiar... It's tender and poignant and awkward and funny all at the same time - you know, just like life."

The production is helmed by director Rachel Alt of Ridgefield. Rachel has acted, directed, produced and more for BCP. Directing credits include Moon Over Buffalo, which was nominated for a Perry Award for Outstanding Direction/Play, Cymbeline, Mary Kitchen and Circle Mirror Transformation. Acting credits at BCP and elsewhere include The Realistic Joneses, A Comedy of Tenors, Getting Away with Murder, Vanities, Ghost Train, and Lost in Yonkers.

"Directing Kodachrome has been a beautiful journey into what makes us human," says Alt, who highlights the deep emotional core of the piece. "Adam Szymkowicz has written a love letter to the moments we so often take for granted. Our incredible cast and crew have poured their hearts into bringing Colchester to life, and we cannot wait for our audience to look through this lens with us, finding pieces of their own stories reflected on our stage."

Playwright Adam Szymkowicz also echoes this sentiment: "You probably won't be able to find the people from my play walking around town, but part of what the play believes is that there is magic in the mundane, so you may be able to find folks like this wherever you are right now."

The unique, inherently familiar characters of Colchester are brought to life by a talented ensemble cast. Carol Fisher of Teaneck leads the production as The Photographer, guiding the audience through the lives of her fellow eccentric townsfolk. Joining her on stage are Margie Druss Fodor of Westwood as the Librarian, Mark Bogosian of Tenafly as the Hardware Store Owner, Ian Kenny of Alpine as the Gravedigger, and Joplin James Sell of North Bergen as the Florist. Rounding out the residents of Colchester are Jodi LW Reiss of Demarest portraying the Mystery Novelist/EMT 1, Chris Caira of Closter as the History Professor/EMT 2, Ava Febre of Maywood as Marjory/Young Woman, and Beckham Kern of Wyckoff as the Young Man.

The stellar behind-the-scenes production team includes Joellen Tierney (Producer), Michele Roth (Assistant to the Director), Debbie Zika (Stage Manager), Jody Laufer (Set Designer), Gerard Bourcier (Lighting Design/Projections), Tim Larsen (Sound Design), Ellyn Essig (Décor), Olga Garey (Costumes), Jenn Bancks (Props), Barry Reed (Sound Operator), Randi Kestin (Lighting Operator), Rita DePinto, Will Kim, Darlene Slezak, and Ken Slezak (Crew), Richard Frant (Photography), Holly Cerelli (Makeup), Felicia Benson-Kraft and Janica Carpenter (Members-at-Large).
