The Guthrie Theater today announced additional casting and the full creative team for the upcoming regional premiere of Annie Baker's Circle Mirror Transformation, directed by Benjamin McGovern. University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program graduate Ali Rose Dachis, in her Guthrie debut, will play Lauren, alongside the four previously announced Guthrie veterans -- Chris Carlson (James), Tracey Maloney (Theresa), Bill McCallum (Schultz) and Angela Timberman (Marty). Circle Mirror Transformation begins preview performances on May 20, opens May 22 and continues through June 13, 2010. Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker just ended its sold-out run at Playwrights Horizons in New York and the Guthrie will mount a production in the Dowling Studio from May 20 through June 13 (opening May 22), under the direction of Benjamin McGovern.

Beginning June 11, the Department of Concerts and Lectures and the University of Minnesota Summer Session Office will host 24 free, outdoor concerts that showcase local talent and offer a variety of eclectic music from various cultures and genres. All concerts will be played on the Northrop Plaza from noon to 1:00 pm, with the exception of five evening shows. The evening concerts are an exciting new addition this summer and will be hosted on the plaza from 7:00 to 8:00 pm with bands The Alarmists, Maria Isa, Innocent, Charanga Tropical, and Alison Scott. Six top Minnesota students from Hennepin Theatre Trust's SpotLight. Musical Theatre Program were selected by audition to proceed to the final round for the chance to compete in the June 28 National High School Musical Theatre Awards at Broadway's Marquis Theatre. Two students will be chosen after continued evaluation by the panel of judges to travel to New York, courtesy of the Trust and Sun Country Airlines.

The Minnesota State Arts Board and Minnesota's Regional Arts Councils, in partnership with Springboard for the Arts and Creative Capital, are underwriting a pilot artist development project. The project, entitled, 'Springboard's Work of Art: Business Skills for Artists', will offer professional development workshops and education opportunities statewide for all artists. Additionally, Creative Capital will present one-day intensives on strategic planning, public relations, funding your work, and the Internet.
