The Cider House Rules: Part One - Here in St. Cloud's, adapted by Peter Parnell from John Irving's novel, spans eight decades of American life in its examination of family, reproductive rights, and the meaning of home. The story centers on Dr. Wilbur Larch (Joel Mitchell), founder of a Maine orphanage and hospital who both delivers babies and performs illegal abortions, and Homer Wells (nick Easterling), the perennially returned orphan whose complex father-son relationship with Larch shapes his journey into adulthood. The production, directed by Joe Bailey, also features Rashna "Rashi" Sarwar, Josiah Martelle, Rachel Paulin, and a large ensemble cast, and debuts The Ringwald's first two-level set. Part One plays May 15–28 before both parts enter repertory through June 14 at The Ringwald Theatre inside Affirmations LGBTQ Community Center in Ferndale, Michigan.
