Journey to the Swamp for Shrek the Musical! Join Unity Theatre Company and KCC’s Lifelong Learning for a laugh-out-loud weekend of fairy tale fun, starring our Bruin Youth campers! After only two weeks of rehearsal magic, these young performers will wow you with a full-length production packed with heart, humor, and an ogre-the-top adventure. Tickets are available online and at the door—don’t wait for a fire-breathing dragon to guard your seat! Binda Performing Arts Center, KCC's North Ave. Campus Shrek the Musical is based on the hit Oscar-winning DreamWorks film that flipped fairy tales upside-down. With catchy songs, clever twists, and plenty of laughs, this Broadway favorite tells the story of a grumpy ogre, a princess with a secret, a talking donkey who will just not stop talking, and a whole swamp full of fairy tale creatures who are anything but traditional. Shrek is perfectly happy living alone in his swamp (as any self-respecting ogre should be), until a bunch of evicted fairy tale characters show up at his doorstep- Pinocchio, the Three Little Pigs, the Big Bad Wolf in Grandma’s dress... you get the idea. To get his peaceful life back, Shrek makes a deal with a very tiny, very bossy Lord Farquaad: rescue Princess Fiona from a tower guarded by a dragon. Easy, right? Well… not exactly. Step into a dazzling fairytale world with eye-popping sets, magical effects, and wildly imaginative costumes. Featuring a tap-dancing rat chorus, a dragon with serious vocal chops, and a princess who can out-belch an ogre, Shrek the Musical is a feel-good, laugh-out-loud show that proves you don’t have to be traditional to find your happily ever after. It’s perfect for the whole family—and yes, there will be fart jokes. SHREK THE MUSICAL
