The inaugural GhostLight Gala takes place on June 29, 2025, at the Garden Theater in Detroit, honoring prominent cultural figures Njia Kai and Dr. George Shirley. The event will feature screenings of exclusive content from the Obsidian Theatre Festival and a variety of theatrical performances. Kai, known for her significant impact on Detroit's arts scene, and Shirley, the first African American tenor at the Metropolitan Opera, will each receive awards recognizing their contributions to the community and the arts. The evening will include a VIP reception, special remarks, and reflections on the future of GhostLight Arts Initiative's mission-driven work.
