Hedwig And The Angry Inch at Four Star Theatre

Dog Story Unleashed & DAAC proudly present the Tony Award–winning rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, starring Jordon Carnegie as Hedwig and Hailie MacKay as Yitzhak. Performances will take place October 2nd & 3rd at 7:30 PM at the 4 Star Theatre on S. Division St.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch tells the electrifying story of Hedwig, an East German punk rock singer whose life has been defined by transformation, survival, and the search for wholeness. Born Hansel, Hedwig’s journey includes a botched sex change operation forced upon him to escape communist East Berlin. The musical, celebrated for its explosive rock score and emotional depth, dives fearlessly into themes of identity, love, and acceptance.

Jordon Carnegie (Hedwig) grew his theatrical wings in Grand Rapids community theater over 25 years ago and has since performed coast-to-coast and in Mexico. “This show checks all the boxes,” says Carnegie, a two-time Broadway World nominee for Best Actor, who brings Hedwig to life with passion and grit. “It’s raw, emotional, hilarious, and uplifting all at once. I’m so excited to share it with my hometown. If you’ve never seen it, come find out why it has such a cult following.”

Co-star and Grand Rapids theater mainstay Hailie MacKay delivers a powerhouse performance as Yitzhak. “Performing this incredible piece of theatre across North America with Jordon has been one of the greatest honors of my career, and I’m thrilled to finally bring my version of Yitzhak to my hometown for all of my friends and family to see! This story and music changed my life in every way, and I hope our production does the same for people in the audience in GR,” says MacKay, who has brought her acting and vocal chops from coast-to-coast including iconic venues in New York City as a cabaret singer.

Carnegie performed this show at Dog Story Theater in 2012 with the incomparable Cera Drake as Yitzhak, and is honored to be bringing Hedwig back to his hometown after multiple performances last year with Hailie MacKay including Palm Springs, CA and at the internationally renowned Palm Cabaret in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
