Annie the Musical is based on the beloved comic strip and classic films that have captured hearts for generations. With catchy songs, unforgettable characters, and plenty of laughs, this Broadway favorite tells the story of Annie, a spirited orphan determined to find her family, the wealthy Daddy Warbucks, and the hope that tomorrow will be brighter.

Annie is perfectly happy singing in the orphanage… until she’s whisked away to the glamorous—but unfamiliar—world of Daddy Warbucks’ mansion. Along the way, she faces the scheming Miss Hannigan, befriends loyal dogs and friends, and discovers that family isn’t just who you’re born to—it’s who loves you.

Featuring iconic numbers like “It’s a Hard Knock Life”, “N.Y.C.”, and the show-stopping “Tomorrow”, Annie the Musical is a feel-good, laugh-out-loud experience that proves hope, heart, and courage can make any dream come true. Perfect for the whole family!

Creative Team

Jack Austin
Director
Jack Austin is a recent graduate of Western Michigan University, where he earned his B.F.A. in Musical Theatre Performance. Recently, he was a contestant on Season 28 of NBC’s The Voice, earning a rare 3-chair turn during his Blind Audition. He originally joined Team Niall Horan before being stolen by Michael Bublé, who used his only steal of the season to bring Jack onto his team. Jack originated the role of James in the premiere of the new musical Boy on Billboard, which made its NYC debut to a sold-out audience at 54 Below. He is also featured on the show’s recently released original cast recording. As a recording artist and songwriter, Jack has cultivated a strong creative presence beyond the stage. His original song “GET AWAY” earned Rock Song of the Year at the Josie Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry, where he is a nine-time nominee. Jack has also built a significant digital following through his TikTok platform, where his vocal performances have amassed over 100 million views and grown an audience of more than 140k followers. Passionate about arts education and youth development, Jack is the founder and director of Unity Theatre Company in his hometown of Battle Creek, Michigan. The company has been nominated twice for Music Business of the Year at the Josie Music Awards.

Logan Robertson
Music Director
Logan has had multiple years of performance experience in both Theatrical and Choral institutes. He has participated in multiple theatre companies in the Marshall, Battle Creek, and Kalamazoo areas. Many of these places are the reason his passion for music education developed. Logan has been an active member of the arts in the Kalamazoo area during his schooling at Western Michigan University. He has more recently sung in small group ensembles for graduate students at the college and for local composer events, both in and outside of the school. He was a member of the University chorale for 3 years and also sang for the Millwood Methodist Churches choir. He has also had performance experience in WMU’s Opera program, The Barn Theatre, and multiple other venues in the area. Logan has also had multiple internships at Kalamazoo and Portage public schools, ranging from elementary to high school music education. This will be Logan’s 3rd year music directing for Unity Theatre! He is so excited to get back to working with these fantastic kids!
Zachary Widner
Associate Director
Zachary is an actor, playwright, and director who recently graduated with his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Western Michigan University. He’s spent the past few years diving into everything from performance to directing. On stage, Zachary has tackled a wide range of roles in musicals, including Patrick Star in SpongeBob: The Musical, King Charlemagne in Pippin, and the green ogre himself in Shrek. While studying at WMU, Zachary discovered a real passion for writing and directing. For the past three years, he’s written and revised scripts for the university and even co-wrote and directed a short film with fellow students. Musical theatre quickly became his favorite playground as a director, where he's had the chance to stage pieces from shows including Guys and Dolls, Urinetown, and Bonnie & Clyde. Zachary is beyond excited to be joining Unity Theatre Company this summer, and can’t wait to jump into the creative fun ahead!
