Truvy Jones runs a successful beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies in the neighborhood have a standing Saturday appointment. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle, the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the towns rich curmudgeon, Ouiser; eccentric millionaire Miss Clairee; and the local social leader, MLynn, whose daughter, Shelby is about to marry a good ole boy. Together, the women make their way over life's many hurdles, finding strength, comfort, love and a fair amount of verbal collisions along the way.
