Due to an emergency medical procedure, Itzhak Perlman, who was scheduled to perform with Pinchas Zukerman and Rohan De Silva at the Kravis Center on Monday February 26, regrets that he is unable to appear for the performance. The performance has been cancelled.
New World Symphony Hosts 30th Anniversary Gala

New World Symphony, America's Orchestral Academy (NWS), hosted its coveted 30th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, Feb. 10. Presented by Gala Chairs Sarah Arison and Thomas Wilhelm, the black-tie affair raised the most funds in all of NWS history, which will go directly towards supporting its fellowship program, its work in the community and innovative programming. The evening also paid tribute to composter Leonard Bernstein in the centennial of his birth with a special performance led by Founder and Artistic Director, Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT).

Miami City Ballet Receives $50,000 NEA Grant

Miami City Ballet, one of the country's premier ballet companies, has received an Art Works grant of $50,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts, as part of the NEA's first major funding announcement for fiscal year 2018. The Art Works category is the NEA's largest funding category and supports projects that focus on the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts, and/or the strengthening of communities through the arts. Miami City Ballet received the Art Works grant to support the presentation of a centennial celebration of American Choreographer Jerome Robbins.

Museum of Art and Design at Miami Dade College (MOADMDC) will present Disorganizing Mimesis, a lecture-performance by members of the award-winning cutting-edge Mexican theater collective Teatro Ojo. In Disorganizing Mimesis, two of Teatro Ojo's founding members, Hector Bourges and Patricio Villareal, give an immersive introduction to one of Mexico's most avant-garde theatrical companies, while taking their audience on an idiosyncratic and twisting tour of Mexican history itself. Disorganizing Mimesis will have one performance at the MDC Live Arts Lab on at 7:30 p.m., March 10.
