Spiegelworld's 'Absinthe' - A Wondrous Entertainment

By:

SPIEGELWORLD, THE SENSATIONAL UNIVERSE OF WILD, WICKED AND WONDROUS ACTS, COMING DIRECT FROM NEW YORK TO MAKE ITS DAZZLING SOUTH FLORIDA DEBUT PREMIERING DECEMBER 20 WITH ITS ACCLAIMED PRODUCTION OF ABSINTHE PRESENTED BY THE RALEIGH HOTEL AND PRODUCED BY ROSS MOLLISON AND RV ENTERTAINMENT AND SET IN THE GLITTERING "SPIEGELTENT" IN THE HEART OF MIAMI BEACH'S COLLINS PARK

With its heralded second year performance already underway at New York's South Street Seaport and a Drama Desk Nomination for Unique Theatrical Experience, SPIEGELWORLD producers Ross Mollison and Vallejo Gantner announce that "Absinthe," the critically acclaimed acro-burlesque variety show, will be arriving in South Florida Thursday, December 20 to launch the holiday season in the mirrored and brocade emporium known as the "Spiegeltent." Seating an intimate 350, the world-class venue will be located in the heart of Collins Park at 22nd Street and Collins Avenue adjacent to the Bass Museum and the nearby home of Miami City Ballet. An opulent venue of stained cut glass, teak, mirrors, billowing velvet and brocade, Spiegelworld ("spiegel" is German for "mirror") transports audiences to another time and place, the early days of Europe in the 20th century. Performed in the round with unobstructed sightlines and easy access, the intimate space is appointed with wooden parquet floors and has individual velvet booths as well as free standing seats. Before each show patrons can drink and dine in Spiegelworld's adjacent Green Room Restaurant, to be operated by the acclaimed Raleigh Hotel, a nearby Art Deco oceanfront property, while taking in the picturesque surroundings of Collins Park. The Miami Beach season of Absinthe will feature strange and sultry acts with deliciously seductive men and women who, with great humor and appeal, will perform amazing feats of strength, balance, danger and unfathomable flexibility. Absinthe will be directed by Wayne Harrison, former Sydney Theatre Company Artistic Director and "Tap Dogs" Creative Director. Having spent the last twelve months literally scouring the world to find the most unique fringe and fair ground attractions, the Miami Beach season of Absinthe is destined to take variety to sexy new heights. In conjunction with its producers, Ross Mollison and Vallejo Gantner, Spiegelworld will be proudly presented by The Raleigh Hotel. The event is also proudly sponsored by American Express and the City of Miami Beach. The City of Miami Beach's Director of Tourism and Cultural Development, Max Sklar, said today that "Spiegelworld is an exciting cultural event for Miami Beach to have secured following its hit seasons in New York. Just as Art Basel has developed over the years into a feature event, so we believe that Spiegelworld can develop in to a year round cultural event." The Raleigh Hotel presents Spiegelworld, produced by Ross Mollison and RV Entertainment, featuring "Absinthe 2007" from December 20 at Miami Beach's Collins Park, 23rd Street and Collins Avenue. A great line up of bands, musicians and other theatrical events will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.com. Group sales by calling: 646-536-8130.
