Maine State Music Theatre (MSMT) and The Public Theatre proudly present a vibrant co-production of The Irish and How They Got That Way, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Frank McCourt (Angela’s Ashes). This spirited musical revue will run August 27 through September 14 at The Public Theatre in Lewiston.
Through traditional ballads, timeless folk tunes, and contemporary songs from Irish legends like U2 and The Pogues, The Irish and How They Got That Way celebrates the humor, heartache, and enduring pride of the Irish-American journey. The production includes favorites like “Danny Boy,” “The Rose of Tralee,” “Finnegan’s Wake,” and “No Irish Need Apply,” all woven together with McCourt’s signature wit and poignant storytelling.
The show stars a powerhouse cast of MSMT audience favorites: Curt Dale Clark, David Girolmo, Heidi Kettenring, and Charis Leos, under the direction and choreography of Marc Robin. This marks MSMT’s first full production in Lewiston since its 2019 collaboration with The Public Theatre on Grease.
All performances will take place at The Public Theatre, 31 Maple Street in Lewiston. Tickets start at $35 and are available now through MSMT.org or by calling 207-782-3200.
