Maine State Music Theatre has released the trailer for HAIRSPRAY, the beloved Tony Award-winning musical running June 3 through 20, 2026 at Pickard Theatre at Bowdoin College, in a co-production with the Fulton Theatre.
With a book by Thomas Meehan and Mark O'Donnell, music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, the show is set in 1962 Baltimore, where big-hearted Tracy Turnblad dreams of dancing on The Corny Collins Show. When her once-in-a-lifetime shot turns into a chance to stand up for what's right, Tracy becomes an unlikely heroine on a mission to integrate the airwaves and bring people together with plenty of rhythm, soul, and style.
Directed and choreographed by Kenny Ingram, the cast features Eden Franco as Tracy Turnblad, Robert Anthony Jones as Edna Turnblad, Joel Newsome as Wilbur Turnblad, Trevor Wayne as Link Larkin, Eileen Ray Brady as Penny Pingleton, Lawrence Flowers as Seaweed J. Stubbs, Tarra Conner Jones as Motormouth Maybelle, Amy Bodnar as Velma Von Tussle, Tori Heinlein as Amber Von Tussle, Dan De Luca as Corny Collins, Mikayla White as Little Inez, Charis Leos as Prudy Pringleton and others, and Peter Matthew Smith as Mr. Pinky and others. The Dynamites are played by Mya Rena Hunter, Brianna Johnson, and Erica Wilkins.
The creative team includes Cody Von Ruden (costumes) and Kevin S. Foster II (hair, wig, and makeup design).
