Winter's Bench at 24th Street Theatre

Winter's Bench is the world premiere of a lyrical new play by Olivier Award-winning British playwright Mike Kenny, commissioned by 24th Street Theatre and directed by artistic director Debbie Devine. Anne Gee Byrd stars as Gladys, an elderly woman who believes the last remaining ancient tree in her neighborhood once spoke to her as a child and may speak again, accompanied live by flutist Shih-wei Wu. Set in a park where only one ancient tree remains, the play blends storytelling, live music, and imagination as a memory play and meditation on nature, aging, and hope. The production features scenic design by Keith Mitchell, composition by Bradley Brough, and video design by Matthew G. Hill.
