Thy Vân Dance Company adds its spectacular artistry to the Lunar New Year series at Sierra Madre Playhouse, presenting folk, regional, and ethnic-minority dances from across Vietnam to showcase the country’s rich cultural traditions with stunning choreography in a family-friendly program on Sunday, February 22, 4:00 pm. The ensemble’s name, Thy (water/ocean) and Vân (clouds), evokes the harmony of sky and sea – fluidity, movement, and transformation – and reflects the company’s mission to bridge heritage and contemporary expression. Founded by Vietnamese American dancers rooted in the traditions of Vietnam yet shaped by life in the United States, the troupe’s repertoire includes Northern, Central, and Southern Vietnamese works as well as pieces inspired by Thai, Hmong, and Tày communities. Thy Vân brings to life stories of homeland, migration, memory, and identity through its breathtaking choreography, music, and visual storytelling. For tickets ($12-$35) and information, please call 626.355.4318 or visit www.sierramadreplayhouse.org. Sierra Madre Playhouse is located at 87 West Sierra Madre Boulevard, Sierra Madre, CA 91024.
