Sweeney Todd

Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim

Book by Hugh Wheeler
Directed by Miguel Cardenas

An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge
who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop,
above which, he opens a new barber practice.

Mrs. Lovett’s luck sharply shifts when Todd’s thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up…and the carnage has only just begun!

Ages: 14 and up. Children under 8 will not be admitted to the theatre. All patrons must have a ticket.

Cast

Tucker Boyes

Sweeney Todd
Tucker Boyes (Sweeney Todd) is bloody thrilled to be finally playing this role that has long held him spellbound. Tucker has been lucky enough to perform in esteemed venues all around Southern California, such as the Chance Theater, the Brea Curtis, CCAE Theatricals, Performance Riverside, the Candlelight Pavilion, and even venues such as the world-famous Magic Castle and the Disneyland Resort. Regional credits include: The Hunchback of Notre Dame In Concert (Quasimodo), The Secret Garden (Archibald/Dr. Craven), Into the Woods (The Baker), Sunday in the Park with George (Franz/George u/s), Little Women (Professor Bhaer), Peter Pan (Mr. Darling/Hook), The Light in the Piazza (Roy Johnson) and much more. As ever, to Loralee and Charlie: my arm will never be complete without them.

Kaya Carr

Mrs. Lovett
Kaya Carr (Mrs. Lovett) is incredibly excited to be making her Phantom Projects debut with this fantastic show! She was born and raised in the Bay Area in Northern California and recently moved to Long Beach. Previous roles include Once on this Island (Asaka), In the Heights (Camila), and Rent (Joanne). She would like to thank her friends and family for continuing to support her through her musical journey. See you "down by the sea"!

Gavin Huffaker

Tobias
Gavin Huffaker (Tobias) is excited to be making his Phantom Projects debut. Previously, Gavin has been seen in The Cherry Orchard (Yasha), Parade (Officer Ivey), A Chorus Line (Mike), Something Rotten (Nigel Bottom), Into the Woods (Cinderella’s Prince/The Wolf). He has also appeared on screen in Malignant (2013) along with multiple upcoming on-screen projects and recently made his voice acting debut in Spider-man Loves Mary Jane as Mark Raxton/Molten Man. He would like to thank his acting coach Howard Fine and his voice coach Melissa Lyons-Caldretti, for their constant support and encouragement. Enjoy the show!

Sarah Meals

Adolfo Pirelli
Sarah Meals (Adolfo Pirelli) is returning to Fleet Street for the fourth time excited to finally be playing something other than the Beggar Woman, and even more excited to be sharing the stage with her sister for the first time in over 25 years. She is no stranger to Southern California theatre, and was most recently seen in Mary Poppins at The Rose as Nanny Andrew, and in The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 as Helsa. She has been in a variety of shows from Titanic (Alice Beane) and 42nd St. (Dorothy Brock) at the Candlelight Pavilion, to The Full Monty (Vicki Nichols) and Sweeney Todd (Beggar Woman) at the Norris. You may have seen her in the ensemble at 3-D Theatricals in one of four shows she’s done there, or down in Escondido at the Welk in The Music Man where she “Pickalittled” her heart out. Other favorite roles include Rona in Spelling Bee, Princess Puffer in Mystery of Edwin Drood, Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, and Sara Jane Moore in Assassins. She has done three contracts with Disney Cruise Line where she played many of your favorite classic Disney characters, and a few of your favorite villains. Sarah dedicates this show, and all shows past and future, to her mama Meredith, her Far Away Prince, and her Jedi King.

Gabrielle Maldonado

Beggar Woman / Lucy Barker
Gabrielle Maldonado (Beggar Woman / Lucy Barker) is an accomplished and versatile musician, working as both a performer and music director in the Southern California musical theatre scene. Gabrielle has been involved in numerous successful productions which include American Idiot at the Chance Theater and TNH’s production of Beauty and the Beast where the cast received an NAACP award for their incredible display of diverse casting and its importance. She was also awarded twice by Broadway World 2023 for best Music Direction and best Orchestra for her work in Cypress College’s production of Carrie. Recently she showcased her talents as she took the role of Miss Honey and Casa, 0101’s production of Matilda and in Southgate’s production of Once. Gabrielle continues to make a significant impact in the musical theater world with her unwavering, dedication to empowering and supporting other artists while maintaining a love of performing.

Laura Gregory

Judge Turpin
Laura Gregory (Judge Turpin) is grateful to be here on Fleet Street with this incredible gaggle of humans, playing a role she never imagined she would embody. Previously, she captivated San Francisco audiences for a decade as “Mad Sal” at The Great Dickens Christmas Fair, and additional favorite roles include Mrs. Lovett in another incarnation of Sweeney, Earth Mother in Menopause the Musical, Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Solange in Follies, Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music, and both Luisa and Carla in Nine (but not at the same time.) This show is especially important to Laura as it marks the first time in over 25 years that she and her sister Sarah have been in a production together. Their mom hated Sweeney and hoped that neither sister would ever be cast in it again, so she’d never have to sit through it any more. (Because ew! It’s just so depressing!) Seems fitting that they are doing it together shortly after she departed to the Great Theater Beyond. Hopefully their Momma is watching Sound Of Music while her daughters are creeping around London. Beyond the stage, Laura loves Pilates, learning ukulele, playing flute, painting mediocre pictures, catching Pokémon, and trying unsuccessfully to thread a sewing machine.

Christopher Ray

Beadle
Christopher Ray (Beadle) is thrilled to be making his debut with Phantom Projects. Favorite credits from Braver Players include: Javert in Les Misérables, Nicky in Avenue Q, Georg Spring Awakening, and more. They also love and are grateful for their family including his partner/unofficial but official husband very much.

Naya Ramsey-Clarke

Johanna Barker
Naya Ramsey-Clarke (Johanna) is thrilled to be making her post-grad debut with Phantom Projects Theatre on Fleet Street. She played the role of Johanna once before and is grateful for the diversity in the casting of this production that is allowing her to do so again. Most recently she played Rose Fenny in Dogfight at Cal State University Fullerton, where she received her BFA in Musical Theatre. She enjoys playing princesses and mermaids for special events as well as writing original music when she is not auditioning. More at nayaramsey-clarke.wixsite.com/naya-ramsey-clarke
