Slide smoothly from World Autism Month into May with LAUGHS ON THE SPECTRUM, an exuberant comedy-variety extravaganza on May 4, 5:30 p.m. at the landmark Laugh Factory club in Hollywood. In this Netflix is a Joke Fest opening day offering from producing partners KutSharp Productions, Autism in Entertainment, Spectrum Laboratory the uncommonly talented, neurodivergent lineup joins May 4 forces for a good cause: the show business dreams of those who think differently.
LAUGHS ON THE SPECTRUM, a one-of-a-kind event born from 2 years of incubation and collaboration, proudly showcases a stellar roster, starting with luminary emcee Dani Bowman. Audiences know and love Dani as award-winning actor/animator/influencer/entrepreneur and star of Netflix’s LOVE ON THE SPECTRUM reality series. Joining Dani onstage is a brilliant ensemble: fellow LOVE ON THE SPECTRUM cast/crew Caroline Corry, Subodh Garg, Aarti Garg, Devin Morrissey, Adan Correa, and Chelsea Darnell, plus the hilarious Spec-Ond City Players improv and sketch comedy troupe, Domonique Brown from Netflix’s ATYPICAL, singing sensation Adin Boyer from AMERICAN IDOL, and the sharp wit of stand-up comics Nic Novicki, Josh Meyrowitz, and Alice Payne. Also at LAUGHS OTS, super-inclusive beauty influencer Alexa Phelece makes her Laugh Factory debut. The whole package ensures that surprises, sketches, and music punctuate the evening with pure joy.
This special engagement serves as a fundraiser to support 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations for autistic talent in media arts and related industries. In short, it’s a night that promises laughter to fuel change. Unsurprisingly, key contributors can’t stay quiet about it!
Rob Kutner and Marlene Sharp, KutSharp Productions Principals, gush about the experience. “We’re positively giddy to kick off this year's Netflix Is a Joke Festival with LAUGHS ON THE SPECTRUM. We are grateful to Laugh Factory’s Jamie Masada and David Fuhrer for opening this door to our little band of players. Jamie and David have believed in this concept for two years and counting. We look forward to a continuation of this commitment of highlighting neurodivergent voices.”
Laugh Factory Founder Jamie Masada adds, “The Laugh Factory has always believed in the power of humor to build bridges. We're proud to host this incredible event, spotlighting talented hopefuls and supporting a great mission.”
Laugh Factory President David Fuhrer is a powerfully positive voice for the cause, too. “Laughter is the one language everyone understands—and the Laugh Factory is very happy to support this show.”
Emcee Dani Bowman says, “I look forward to connecting in person with such inspiring colleagues. Laughter is an excellent coping mechanism and unifying factor, and this production is all about celebrating diversity through comedy.”
Judi Uttal, Founder and Work Group Chair of Autism in Entertainment states, “As someone who is deeply passionate about advocating for autistic individuals in the arts, I’m overjoyed by the creativity that these performers bring onstage. It’s a true celebration of community.”
Spectrum Laboratory Founders and Principals Jason Weissbrod and Garth Herberg express similar sentiments. “Working hand-in-hand with such wonderful people in our neurodivergent comedy nights has been a dream come true. We started this initiative to foster inclusivity in performance arts, and presentations like this reflect our collective goals and mission.”
Dan Feshbach, founder of Multiple, shared why he chose to support the event. “LAUGHS ON THE SPECTRUM reflects something I care about deeply: creating more real opportunity for autistic people to be seen, valued, and employed for their talents. The three partner organizations are each doing important work, and together they are helping raise the visibility of exceptional autistic performers and creatives. I also believe that voices like the ones on this stage can help open people’s eyes to a much bigger future—one shaped by talent, innovation, and broader access to services and solutions that remain out of reach for far too many autistic people and families.”
A Word About Joining Forces on May the 4th
It’s significant to note that the Neurodivergent Comedy Nights - pioneered at Laugh Factory in September 2024 by Kutner, Sharp, Uttal, Mike Rotman, Maja Watkins, and Autism in Entertainment – is a format that is grounded in the success of the inaugural Autism in Entertainment Conference held on April 2024 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Bel Air, CA. The aforementioned joined hands and forces for good to create a vibrant atmosphere where neurodivergent voices speak for themselves. This legacy expands with LAUGHS ON THE SPECTRUM.
Be part of the spectacle that’s as entertaining as it is meaningful. Together, we’ll laugh, connect, and advance autistic talent that deserve to be seen and heard.
