The Group Rep proudly presents the compelling courtroom drama A TIME TO KILL, adapted for the stage by Rupert Holmes and directed by Tom Lazarus, and produced by Stevie Stern for the Group Rep.
This riveting courtroom drama tells the story of a young, idealistic-and-untested lawyer, Jake Brigance, defending a black man, Carl Lee Hailey, for taking the law into his own hands following an unspeakable crime committed against his young daughter. Grisham has described his novel as “very autobiographical,” and the drama is based on a case he witnessed where a 12-year-old victim gave the most harrowing testimony he had ever heard.
The play runs May 22 through June 28, 2026. Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm. Sundays at 2:00pm. “After the Matinee: Talkback with cast and staff” 5/24 & 5/31.
