On Sun, June 6, 2010, La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts & Upright Cabaret presented the "Mighty Mississippi" which is the 4th installment of Upright Cabaret's popular "American Icon Series" at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts in La Mirada, CA.
Celebrating the music of Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley and Prince who all found their roots in cities along the Mississippi River, the 'Mighty Mississippi' concert featured classics like "What a Wonderful World," "Hello Dolly," "Purple Rain," "Hound Dog," "Love Me Tender" and many more songs that that you would expect to hear if the selected icons had been in the room.
Music Directed by LA based Gerald Sternbach and featuring an impeccable cast including Yvette Cason (Broadway: Dreamgirls, Play On!, Film: Dreamgirls), Matt Zarley (Broadway: The Who's Tommy, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) and Von Smith (American Idol), this concert provided an unique and intimate evening of entertainment that was shared with an enthusiastic audience.
