L'ELISIR D'AMORE to Close Independent Opera Company's 14th Season in LA
Niko Murakami, Jacob Stucki, and Kelvin Li star at La Cañada Congregational Church.
Independent Opera Company will conclude its 14th season with L'Elisir d'Amore (The Elixir of Love), a charming comic opera in two acts composed by Gaetano Donizetti. Premiered in 1832, it remains one of the most beloved works in the Bel Canto repertoire.
The story follows Nemorino, a shy, earnest young villager hopelessly in love with the wealthy and self-assured Adina. When a swaggering traveling salesman, Dr. Dulcamara, arrives peddling a "miraculous" love potion, Nemorino eagerly buys it-believing it will win Adina's heart. What unfolds is a delightful mix of misunderstandings, romantic rivalries, and gentle satire, all culminating in a joyous ending where true love prevails.
Independent Opera Company's production will be fully staged, with] costumes and piano accompaniment, performed by some of the finest local singers.
Two performances only on Friday June 26 and Saturday June 27 at 7:30 PM at La Cañada Congregational Church, 1200 Foothill Blvd, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011 Tickets available at http://independentoperacompany.org
