JIMI DARKNESS: ALCOHOLIC SUPERHERO To Perform At The Three Clubs with Hollywood Fringe

What if getting sober meant losing your superpowers? That's the question at the heart of Jimi Darkness: Alcoholic Superhero, a darkly comic original rock musical making its Hollywood Fringe Festival debut this June at Three Clubs in Hollywood, California.

Written and composed by James Byous, the high-voltage production blends superhero mythology, addiction recovery, punk-rock spectacle, and emotional vulnerability into a wildly original theatrical experience that asks: Can you save the world if you can't save yourself?

By day, Jimi Darkness is a struggling musician. By night, he's a crime-fighting kung fu superhero whose powers only work when he drinks. No alcohol? No powers. No hero. But every drink comes with a cost. Push too far, and Jimi slips into "Total Darkness" - a dangerous spiral where the very thing that gives him power threatens to destroy him completely.

As he battles AA meetings, a relentless sponsor, toxic relationships, and a looming supernatural threat known as Mr. Nemesis, Jimi is forced to confront the terrifying possibility that sobriety may cost him the very thing that makes him special.

Equal parts absurd, heartfelt, hilarious, and emotionally raw, Jimi Darkness: Alcoholic Superhero delivers explosive rock music, dark comedy, live-band energy, and an unexpectedly human story about addiction, identity, and redemption.

"I wrote this show while working at a drug rehabilitation center, hoping to entertain the patients," says creator James Byous. "Along the way, I realized that addicts and alcoholics deserve a hero too."

The production stars James Byous as Jimi Darkness alongside Michael Thomas Grant (Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, Grey's Anatomy) as Joe and acclaimed actress and recording artist Dionne Gipson (NCIS, The Wilds) as Hannah, with additional performances by Faydean Kielty, Lilli Simerman, Seth Hale, and Maeve Riley.

The creative team includes director Patrick Mulvey (The Pitt, This Is Us, Crime 101), music director Stein Malvey (The Four Freshmen, Bob's Burgers), vocal arranger Gregory Nabours (The Kennedy Center, In The Heights), producer Marika Engelhardt, assistant director Maëva Feitelson, and choreography by Amy Ryerson (Rock of Ages, Winning Time,).

Blending glam-rock theatricality with raw emotional honesty, the production may appeal to fans of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, American Idiot, underground comic books, dive-bar concerts, and cult midnight movies.
