CURSED: MY ROAD TO HOLLYWOOD to Be Presented At Hudson Guild Theatre
Producer Rebecca O'Brien brings the Hollywood Fringe selection to Santa Monica Blvd. in a 50-minute comedic memoir.
Linda Mendoza will present her solo show CURSED- MY ROAD TO HOLLYWOOD as part of the 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival in Hollywood this June. Written and performed by Mendoza and produced by Rebecca O'Brien, the production will play at Hudson Guild Theatre.
Mendoza describes herself as a “Mexican girl from Detroit” who grew up hearing that a jealous Santeria practitioner had placed a curse on her family. As misfortune affects relatives throughout her life, Mendoza begins to wonder when the curse will reach her as well.
The show follows Mendoza’s personal and professional journey through the entertainment industry. After working in music, she went on to become an Emmy-winning television and film director, earning three Emmy Awards for Sesame Street. Her directing credits include Scrubs, Grown-ish, Black-ish, The Chris Rock Show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and The Good Place, along with specials featuring Paul McCartney, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Wanda Sykes, Tiffany Haddish, and David Letterman.
According to production notes, CURSED- MY ROAD TO HOLLYWOOD explores Mendoza’s experiences navigating the entertainment industry while confronting sexism and the lingering mythology of her family’s supposed curse. The production is described as a comedic and personal reflection on perseverance and professional success.
