Based on the novella by Stephen King, The Shawshank Redemption follows the story of Andy Dufresne, a successful banker sentenced to two consecutive life terms at Shawshank State Penitentiary for the murders of his wife and her lover, a crime he maintains he did not commit. Inside the grim walls of Shawshank, Andy meets Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding, a lifer who becomes his close friend. Through the years, Andy faces the harsh realities of prison life, including the corruption of the prison warden and guards, but never loses hope. Andy puts his banking skills to use, gains the trust of the warden and prison staff implementing their financial scams. His hope and determination and connection to Red get him through. One of the best breakout stories of all time, the play brings the glorious story of resilience and friendship made famous by the acclaimed film to the stage. See Shawshank Live on Stage!
