A sensation in her previous Symphony performances, dynamic young pianist Yuja Wang thrills audiences with playing that leaps from the stage. Shostakovich felt the chilling effect of the new Soviet conservatism and his Fifth Symphony left many wondering if this was his creative response to official criticism or his cunning way of expressing his secret resistance. Help us bring the season to a spectacular conclusion as the Symphony displays their talent in this popular, exciting work exploring the dynamic ranges from the delicate solo passages of the early movements to the fist-pounding conclusion.
