Conversation with Qui Nguyen is a free public event held on April 25 at Independence Community College as part of the 43rd William Inge Theatre Festival, which celebrates playwrights in the hometown of its Pulitzer Prize and Oscar-winning namesake. Qui Nguyen, the festival's 2026 Honoree, joins a roster of previous honorees that includes Arthur Miller, Stephen Sondheim, Lauren Gunderson, and Lynn Nottage. Known for pop-culture-infused, genre-bending work and storytelling credits spanning Marvel Studios, Netflix, Disney, and PBS, Nguyen will discuss his creative journey in a conversation moderated by Robert Ross Parker, co-founder of the Obie-winning Vampire Cowboys, which Nguyen co-founded. The conversation follows the matinee of Independence Community College's production of Nguyen's play Living Dead in Denmark and concludes with an award presentation at 5:30 p.m.
