POSITION SUMMARY:

Dramatists Guild Foundation (DGF) seeks a self-motivated and efficient professional to help provide support to our Finance department. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Finance, the Finance Manager will assume responsibility for financial reporting, non-profit bookkeeping, accounting services and other administrative responsibilities to support the Finance department.

520 8th Ave, Suite 2401, New York, NY 10018. The DGF Office is ADA accessible.

ABILITY TO WORK REMOTELY:

DGF is a hybrid office. While we are flexible with remote work, presence in person will be necessary on specified dates.

SALARY:

$32-38/hour

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Enter Accounts payables and grants receivables with weekly reviews.
  • Provide weekly Accounts payable summary report to Director of Operations and Finance.
  • Review and assessment of the Chart of the Accounts.
  • Recording of donations and check receipts.
  • Enter deposits and payment of bills via check requests.
  • Process payroll; prepare all year- end payroll and vendor statements, including W-2’s and 1099s.
  • Assessing and submitting payroll on bi-weekly basis.
  • Reconcile all bank, investments and credit card accounts. All financial statements will be submitted to the Director of Operations and Finance for review and initialization.
  • Review the status of any temporarily restricted grants; prepare reports for funding sources, as necessary. Financial reports to funders will be submitted to Director of Operations and Finance and the Director of Development for review.
  • Assist in annual audit and work closely with outside CPA firms, including annual schedules.
  • Monthly budget review with reports to Director of Operations and Finance.
  • Individual quarterly budget review meetings with reports to all Department heads.
  • Attend staff meetings and board meetings as needed.
  • Create monthly reports (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow, Budget YTD, Transfer Summaries).
  • Filing, when necessary, on a monthly basis.
  • Add organizational budgets into the financial system to provide information on budget vs actual.
  • Reviewing bank transactions daily; supply donation documentation when necessary.
  • Overseeing bill payment and executing if necessary.
  • Managing credit card account and reviewing transactions for the organization, in addition to managing business card in your name and submitting receipts to Bookkeeper; protecting DGF against risk.
  • Monitoring cash flow.
  • Working with the Director of Operations and Finance to draft an organizational budget.

 

OTHER SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Collaborate with the DGF team through updates and communications in project management platform, Monday.com.
  • Maintain records in an organized fashion in Google Drive.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High proficiency in Quickbooks Online.
  • High-level knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Strong competency in the use of Microsoft office applications, including Word, Excel.
  • Knowledge of Xero, Google Drive, DonorPerfect and Monday.com – a plus.
  • Sharp attention to detail in all aspects of this role.
  • A proactive work style.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment in making decisions.
  • Proven ability to work with little supervisor intervention and as a team member.
  • Experience with Google Drive and Monday.com a plus.
  • Experience in financial planning/budgeting or relevant work in a financial institution or finance department.
  • Experience with budget preparation and financial management as well as financial reporting and internal controls required.
  • Nonprofit experience.
  • Bookkeeping experience.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting, Master’s in Business Administration, Masters in Nonprofit Administration, or other relevant degree or certification.
  • CPA designation preferred.

  • Eligibility for annual performance-based bonus of up to 7% of salary rate, prorated to start date. Bonus not guaranteed.
