The Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville invites you to celebrate its 10th Anniversary Seasonwith Firebird and Other Tales, a free community concert of imagination, inspiration, and musical storytelling.
Under the baton of Dr. Marguerite Richardson, the orchestra’s 70 volunteer musicians will perform a sweeping program that bridges folk traditions, symphonic drama, and American spirit. From Florence Price’s powerful Concert Overture No. 2 to the shimmering magic of Stravinsky’s Firebird, this concert showcases the brilliance of composers who turned stories into unforgettable sound.
Program Highlights:
- Florence Price – Concert Overture No. 2 (1943)
- Antonín Dvoák – Largo from Symphony No. 9 “From the New World”
- Ralph Vaughan Williams – English Folk Song Suite
- Igor Stravinsky – Berceuse and Finale from The Firebird
- Morton Gould – American Salute
