Civic kicks off the new season with a bang and turns up the heat with one of the most popular musicals of all time: Chicago! Six Merry Murderesses take center stage in this sharp edged satire from Kander and Ebb, with choreography inspired by the legendary Bob Fosse. It’s the roaring twenties in Chicago, when Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband Amos to take the rap...until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and fellow inmate Velma Kelly vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the "American Dream". Chicago has everything that makes a Broadway musical great: a universal tale of fame, fortune, Razzle Dazzle, and one show-stopping song after another!
