Its Christmastime in Harlem and the year is 1955. A SILENT NIGHT IN HARLEM tells the story of the BOHANNAN FAMILY - and Dorthy Mae Bohannan who has migrated north from Yazoo City, Mississippi and is seeking better opportunities for her and her family which consists of 3 grown-daughters (CORA - A Beautician at "Bessie's" Beauty Shop; GERTRUDE- a Maid for Tom & Gladys Parker in Upper Eastside of Manhattan, and ANNIE- a Cigarette Girl at the Savoy Ballroom, and. Then there's MABEL Dorthy Maes friend and Neighbor who lives across the hall and dates "Big Jim" a 2-bit Hustler and Gambler. Dorothy migrates to Harlem from the South in search of better opportunities for her family. But while she lives a new and different life, she fails to deal with the past that she left behind in Mississippi - and thus it is revealed that she has another daughter (one that she had later in life and had given up in a secret adoption arranged by her Mother Beulah Mae who was a Midwife.). Dorothy had a secret love affair with a married man named Joseph, and became pregnant with his child, Josephine who is now a grown woman and has been searching for her Mother, Dorthy Mae, only to discover her Mother and 3 older Sisters living in Harlem. When Josephine was born, she was delivered by Dorthys Mother Beulah Mae a midwife who unknowingly takes young Josephine and gives her to Mary a woman who is childless and ends up raising the natural child of her husband Joseph. The Bohannan Family prepares for a most memorable Christmas Eve Holiday they wont soon forget in this jaw-dropping tale of Love, Joy and Forgiveness! This and much more is revealed on A Silent Night in Harlem".
