KARTIKEYA, presented by Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra's Kendra Dance Repertory, is a revival of the earlier work Kumar Sambhav, retitled to bring renewed focus to Kartikeya, the War God and elder son of Lord Shiva. The production explores the cosmic events surrounding Kartikeya's birth, necessitated by the threat posed by Tarakasur, and weaves in the stories of Rati-Kamdev, Shiva's marriage to Parvati, and the birth of Ganesha within the Shiva Parivar. Choreographed by Raj Kumar Sharma, the production draws on classical Indian dance forms including Chhau, Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Odissi, and Kathakali, enhanced by music composed by Madho Prasad incorporating original compositions by the late Barun Gupta. Set design and costumes were developed by Gauri Keeling and Minaakshi Das, with lighting design by Debi Prasad Mishra.
