What is the difference between Hungarian wines and operetta tunes? Nothing! Both can brighten up our days, both are genuinely Hungarian and both are internationally acclaimed. The Budapest Operetta and Musical Theatre's latest gala show - in co-production with Hungaricum Society - presents these two treats together, only for you!
Everything that is needed for an unforgettable evening is there: spectacular scenery and dresses, short comedy scenes and enchanting tunes about wine, harvest, and women from the best opera and operetta composers (Imre Kálmán, Jen? Huszka, Johann Strauss, Zoltán Kodály, Mihály Eisemann, Pál Ábrahám, Szabolcs Fényes, Viktor Jacobi and Béla Zerkovitz).
During the break, our guests will have the chance to taste the best wines of Hungary and get to know more about our wine regions and the people behind these wines. People like János Mathiász, the 19th century winemaker, whom János Arany called "the Shakespeare of winemaking".
The gala show features all-time favourite operetta songs like Egy részeg éjszakán, Hétre ma várom a Nemzetinél, Mi muzsikus lelkek, Hej, cigány, Délibábos Hortobágyon, Csopak, Somló, Badacsony, and Ahol az ember felmászik a fára. Meanwhile, the wine regions will introduce themselves and their wines to the audience and will knight our operetta stars to "wine knights".
The audience can have a sip of the finest wines from the Ászár-Neszmély, the Pannonhalma-Sokoróalja, the Csopak, Badacsony, Balatonfelvidék, Sopron, Somló, Balatonmellék, Balatonboglár, Tolna, Szekszárd, Villány, Eger, Tokaj-hegyalja and Mátra regions and will have the chance to try the sparkling wines of Törley Pezsg?pincészet.
