HAIR at Art Factory

Art Factory lets the sun shine in with a glorious new production of one of history’s most groundbreaking and infamous musicals, HAIR! This Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical feast for the eyes and ears depicts its creators’ observations on hippie culture in late 1960’s America. As the transformative musical takes us on a psychedelic journey, we meet “The Tribe,” as they navigate the sexual revolution and young American life in the time of the Vietnam War. HAIR includes one of musical theatre’s most iconic scores, including songs like “Aquarius,” “I Believe in Love,” “Easy to Be Hard,” “Good Morning Starshine,” “Let the Sun Shine In,” and so many more. This earth-shaking musical is certain to be an unforgettable experience for Houston.

HAIR stars Luke Hamilton as Berger, Colton Berry as Claude, Katy McCants as Sheila, Christine Mompoint as Dionne, Allan McFarlane as Hud, Ethan Spell as Woof, Julia Noble as Jeanie, and Sam Lank as Crissy. The Tribe is comprised of a Houston-local cast of phenomenal performers including Conrad Avila, Donna Barnett, Karelia Beaulieu, Lamonte Brooks, Olivia Clayton, Amber Cossette, Nonie Hilliard, Rae’Andrea Hudson, Alexander Mompoint, Sarah Beth Sims, Destiny Webb, and Hailey Wolfe. HAIR is directed and choreographed by Founding Executive Director Luke Hamilton, with production design by Founding Artistic Director Colton Berry, music direction by Elizabeth Chrisman Shurtz, stage management by Rachel Epstein, and production assistance by Jane Volke. HAIR features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni & James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot. HAIR was originally produced by the New York Shakespeare Festival Theatre originally produced for the Broadway stage by Michael Butler.

HAIR runs June 16 through July 2 with Friday and Saturday performances at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday performances at 5:00 p.m. Art Factory is located at The Docks, 1125 Providence St., Houston TX 77002. Free onsite parking is available. Tickets can be purchased at www.ArtFactoryHouston.com/tickets.
