SHEAR MADNESS Receives 2014 Moliere de la Comédie

Shear Madness producers Marilyn Abrams and Bruce Jordan have announced the French production of the international phenomenon, Dernier Coup de Ciseaux is the 2014 recipient of the Moliere de la Comédie (the FrenchTony Award). Accepting the award June 2 for the French production was director Sébastien Azzopardi, who trained under Jordan prior to opening at Paris' Theatre des Mathurins in 2011.

Celebrating 34 years at The Charles Playhouse Stage II, the flagship Boston company has given birth to 42 domestic productions across the country. Today, "Shear Madness" is truly a global sensation, translated into 10 foreign languages and performed on six continents, in cities including Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Paris, Rejkavik, Rome, Tel Aviv, Melbourne, Johannesburg and Seoul.

Voted "Best Comedy of the Year" seven times by the Boston Globe, and recognized as the "Best Play of the Year" by both the Chicago Sun-Times and the Philadelphia Enquirer, "Shear Madness" has also received the Raven Award from the Mystery Writers of America, and is the first play ever inducted into the Comedy Hall of Fame.
