Chunky Funky & Soulful Groove Collective To Perform For International Jazz Day At Rialto Theatre

Chunky Funky and Soulful Groove Collective will perform at the Rialto Theatre on April 30, 2026 at 8:30 p.m., in recognition of International Jazz Day, the worldwide initiative established by UNESCO.

International Jazz Day is observed annually as a global celebration of jazz as both a musical genre and a platform for cultural exchange, dialogue, and inclusion. The initiative highlights jazz’s role in bringing together communities through performance, education, and collaboration across international and local contexts.

The Limassol concert will be part of this global program, bringing together two ensembles—Chunky Funky and Soulful Groove Collective—in a single performance designed as a continuous musical experience. The evening will begin with Chunky Funky in a trio format, focusing on groove-driven interplay, before expanding as Soulful Groove Collective joins the stage to build a larger ensemble sound.

As the performance progresses, the two groups will merge, creating an evolving set shaped by improvisation and real-time collaboration. The structure emphasizes fluid transitions and collective musical development, reflecting the improvisational traditions of jazz.

LINE-UP

Chunky Funky will feature Giorgos Morfitis on keyboards, Odysseas Toumazou on guitar, and Stelios Xydias on drums.

Soulful Groove Collective will include Marguerita Freeks on vocals, Giorgos Morfitis on keyboards, Odysseas Toumazou on guitar, Andreas Rodosthenous on electric bass, and Stelios Xydias on drums.
