A Darkly Funny Futuristic View of Sex

Primal Forces is proud to open their 2017-2018 season with the Southeastern premiere of the provocative dark comedy, The Good Girl. Written by Emilie Collyer, this award-winning play offers a futuristic view of people's interaction with robots, in a world where sex seems to have been banned for the masses, and sex with robots is narrowly constrained.

The Good Girl is a futuristic view of people's interaction with robots. Set in Anjali's apartment, she has a government-issued job as a madam to a female sex robot. When Ven, the maintenance man, discovers that the sexbot is displaying human emotional behavior, the two develop an illegal scheme, causing grave complications as the story takes a dark turn---a twist that reveals a great deal about Anjali, Ven and the order of the culture they live in.

Amber Lynn Benson plays Anjali. She received her BFA in Performance from FIU and recently directed a sold out show for the Fort Lauderdale Fringe Festival called "Stingray." She loved her most challenging role as Stacy in "My First, My Fist, My Bleeding Seeded Spirit," working with New Theatre. She just portrayed the role of Rosali in "Real Women Have Curves" at Main Street Players Theatre in Miami and is excited to be working on "The Good Girl" because of her interest in existentialism and idealism.

Jovon Jacobs plays Ven, and most recently seen in Informed Consent at Gablestage. He holds a B.F.A in Acting and is a proud participant in the South Florida Theatre Community.
