The Memory Play is about revisiting (rewriting?) one's past. As Gabe struggles to construct the perfect toast at his friends' wedding, he is drawn into a memory vortex of connections, betrayals, serendipity and cinematic references. Here he encounters: Willa, Meghan and Parker and the four debate what it means to remember, why we do so, how to learn from one's past, and assigning meaning to chance occurrences. Will Gabe emerge from his riddled psyche with new clarity? Will he be better off for the journey?

Seeking:

Meghan

Woman. 20s. Any ethnicity. Spicy. Gabe's ex-girlfriend. Strong comedy skills a must. Has a tough time letting people in. Feels it's her responsibility to educate the women of the world as to the travails of men, whether or not her wisdom has been solicited. She is brutally honest about everything except, perhaps, what is wedged deepest in her heart. She is also sexy and confident and a stickler for honest expression.

Willa

Woman. 20s. Any ethnicity. Sweet. Gabe's ex-girlfriend, now Parker's fiance. A victim of sexual abuse as a child, Willa still posesses a deep faith in the people around her. She is extremely generous with her heart, sometimes to a fault. Amidst this group, she is the least interested in haggling over philosophical questions. To her, life is best spent having adventures and falling in love. Despite her complicated past, she is the purest member of this group, a trait the others admire/envy in her.

Gabe

Caucasian Man. 20s. Searching. The show's protagonist. On the brink of Willa and Parker's wedding, Gabe is wondering about his role in Willa and Parker having found one another. He is a charmer. Fun and easy to be around, if somewhat emotionally reckless. Gabe loves movies and is quick to find lessons as to his own life hidden within them. Gabe is also one of those people for whom life has come rather easy. Having lived a relatively pain-free existence thusfar, he has trouble empathasizing with people (even those closest to him) in pain. Roughly speaking, he is after knowledge, growth and lessons from the events with which the play deals. Thus the play hinges on his ability (or lack thereof) to gain insight.

Parker

Man. 20s. Any ethnicity. Sharp. Gabe's best friend. Willa's fiance. Strong comedy skills a must. Parker pushes people, occasionally too far. Smart and confident with a healthy dose of frat boy, he enjoys nothing more than spirited debate -- if people's egos get stepped on, so be it. Like Gabe, Parker shares a deep love of movies and pop culture in general, but is somewhat less willing to find deep cosmic meaning in them. Like Meghan, there is perhaps something sad hidden under the brash veneer, but that secret is tightly vaulted. Parker is your classic pushy charmer who people typically find themselves drawn to in spite of themselves.
