Breakdown
TIAGO:
In his early 20s, Tiago is intelligent, curious and possesses an effortless and magnetic sexuality. He's enigmatic, somehow balancing his youthful innocence against the world-weary pain of his past that is always simmering inside him. He must be capable of using language effectively, speaking with multiple accents and commanding enormous attention and focus.
TOMMY:
A blond rich kid. Tommy is 18 and just about to start college. He is attractive and has an unchecked sexual energy—something desperate, dangerous and dark. He can be very charming, but seems to be on the edge of a critical snap at any moment. Complex, and dealing with his emerging sexual identity, a non-existent relationship with his father, a strained one with his mother and his own desire to be independent, Tommy is a powerful force in PENINSULA.
MRS. VAUGHN:
Tommy's mother, in her 40's and very attractive. She has a relaxed elegance, a down-to-earth grace, and a wry wit that belies a broken, lonely and desperate interior. Her husband is successful and absent; her son has just told them he is gay and, in a pivotal moment, she tries to seduce her son's Brazilian boyfriend.
BENNETT:
In his mid 20's and Tiago’s supervisor at the orchard, Bennett is an all American, Midwestern guy. He’s down to earth and a hard worker. He’s a former high school football hero who never got out of small town Northern Michigan. He’s still got his blond good looks and some nice arms, but maybe he’s hiding something that Tiago draws out. But then again, maybe he’s not.
LILY:
Latina. In her early 20s, pretty, smart and tough, Lily has been Tiago’s girlfriend since they were 14. She was raised in the favelas of Rio and knows how to survive. She has an intense passion and devotion to Tiago and is genuinely his friend. Sensitive, intelligent and strong, Lily knows what she wants and what she doesn’t.
NELSON:
Latino. In his mid to late 20's, Nelson is sexy, seductive and dangerous. Also form the favela, he’s a little older than Tiago and Lily, and has a smooth manner that he uses to get into people’s heads and exploits their needs. Intelligent and manipulative, Nelson uses all of his resources: his sexuality, his wit, his humor, and his looks to get what he wants.
