Carole (Klein) King: An aspiring singer/songwriter. A unique, appealing, funny, and vulnerable girl from a Jewish family in Brooklyn. Talented, good-natured, unassuming, and often the peacemaker in difficult situations. A reluctant star with no pretense and a passion for music. Teens to 30’s. Vocal Range: Strong Belt / E5.
Gerry Goffin: Carole’s boyfriend, songwriting partner, and eventual husband. Innately sympathetic, wounded, and tortured. An ambitious artist always striving for more. Teens to 30’s. Vocal Range: A4.
Cynthia Weil: A songwriter who becomes romantically involved with Barry. Carole’s best friend. She is sophisticated, smart & chic with a quick wit. Although self-confident and sarcastic, she is also extremely likable. 20’s to 30’s. Vocal Range: E5.
Barry Mann: A songwriter who becomes romantically involved with Cynthia. He is good-natured, appealing & neurotic. Ambitious, but likable. 20’s to 30’s. Vocal Range: A4.
Don “Donny” Kirschner: An influential music publisher and producer. He is a fast-talking, energetic force of nature. Powerful, direct & sometimes intimidating, but he has a real affinity for his writers and artists. A hitmaker. 40’s to 60’s. Vocal Range: C#4.
Genie Klein: Carole’s Jewish mother. Once an aspiring playwright, she has been broken down by life & her husband’s infidelity. Protective of Carole and unforgiving of her husband’s mistakes. 40’s to 60’s. Vocal Range: Normally a Non-Singing Role / Alto.

PRINCIPALS:
Belle: A vibrant, intelligent young beauty who wants much more in life than living in a small town. She is perceived to be quite odd. Mezzo-soprano.
The Beast: A prince transformed into a terrifying beast for his lack of compassion; short-tempered and commanding, but with a warm, loving heart buried far beneath his gruff exterior. Baritone.
Gaston: The story's antagonist. The vain, egotistical, narcissistic, ultra-masculine villain determined to marry Belle. Baritone.
LeFou: Gaston's bumbling sidekick. Tenor.
Lumière: A suave, French, debonair enchanted candelabra. The maître d' of the castle. Baritone.
Mrs. Potts: A kind-hearted, maternal enchanted teapot. The head of the castle's kitchen. Mezzo soprano.
Chip: A young teacup; Mrs. Potts' son. Boy soprano.
Cogsworth: A tightly wound, enchanted stuffy mantle clock and head of the Beast's castle. Baritone.
Babette: A saucy, flirtatious feather-duster who seeks Lumière's affections. The maid of the castle. Soprano.
Madam de la Grande Bouche: A former opera diva turned into a wardrobe. Soprano.
Maurice: Belle's loving, eccentric inventor father. Baritone.
