Seeking Musical Theatre Actors for new musical comedy – part of the NYMF.
GABBY
alto/mezzo mix/belt, a somewhat hardened chorus girl who gets in the middle of everything, a busy-body, energetic, a catalyst for the trouble that follows, but not as stupid as you might think. Character comedienne, 30-40s, sings some solo verses.
TESSIE
any voice type but strong singer, a tough barmaid at the Rat's Pit dive, doesn't take crap from anyone, comic character actress, doubles as other characters, 28-early 40's.
DA JEROME
any voice type, the State Prosecutor, a Portrait in Frustration who works hard and always loses every case to Howe & Hummel, scoundrel lawyers; fights hard, intelligent, vocally strong, solo verses, 40-55
BRODY
any voice type, Very Handsome (tall, dark probably) and conceited showman who harasses his chorus girls, thinks he can have any girl he wants, self-centered, vengeful, 35-45.
BYRNE
voice type open, a police chief, speaks with NY accent so that "Byrne" rhymes with "loin" and uses malapropisms to comical degree, though he seriously thinks he's educated; takes bribes and believes in beating out confessions and using the system. Dreams of being Commissioner, strong COMIC character, solo verses, 35-55.
Other roles may open up so will accept resumes from musical comedy performers with good credits and strong musicianship. Characters are primarily ages 28-55.
