By Lee Blessing

THIS SHOW IS ALREADY CAST

THE FANTASTICKS!

Director: Kelsey Leigh Ervi

Music Director: TBA

The conceit for this production embraces the universality and sense of allegory in the telling of this musical. This is a play about love. That’s for everyone. We are actively seeking to cast across the gender spectrum for any and all roles. We are enthusiastically casting against traditional and historical “types” for the roles listed below. That includes age, gender expression, race, physical ability, and sexual orientation. Our aim is to bring together an ensemble from which the actors are able to step into these roles fully, employing and manifesting imagination in the execution of these roles.

To be clear, the characters themselves will retain their assigned gender as detailed by the play. The actors themselves who portray these gendered roles, will not be bound to the strictures of gendered traditionalism. The same is true for age. The characters will maintain their ages, however the creative team is open to any of the characters being portrayed by actors of any age.

SEEKING:

MATT: a lover. Charming, endearing, honest. Sings low A - high G

LUISA: a lover. Tender, sincere, enchanting. Sings low B - high B

EL GALLO: A bandit, a leader, and our narrator. Sings low Ab - high G

THE MUTE: A speechless and “invisible” narrator of everything else.

HENRY: The aging, seasoned actor who (mostly) recalls Shakespeare and revels in the magic of theatre.

MORTIMER: A generous scene partner to Henry, known for his elaborate death scenes.

HUCKLEBEE: A parent. Sings low A - high F#

BELLOMY: A parent. Sings low A - high F#
