Equity actors who are creative and open to playing for roles in BEE (an all-woman production). Middle Eastern Women and all Middle Eastern female-identifying performers encouraged to audition.

BREAKDOWN

Synopsis: BEE ͣ͵̗̼ͤ is the story of Izat, a young Iranian girl trapped in an abusive marriage in the 1940s. In an unprecedented move, her father is able to use his influence to secure a divorce for her. The play explores the strength of family, fleeing your home, and immigration. Moving back and forth in time from 1940 to 2009, the story weaves together Izat's struggles with her path to a happier life. Based on a true story and inspired by a collection of interviews from Middle Eastern immigrants and refugees.

Seeking:

Dariush (male, 30-55)- husband to Izat, 20 years older than her, has internal demons and likes to be in control, the antagonist of the play.

Izat (20-35)- married at 13 years old, this play catalogs her journey from ages 13-80, demure but strong, passionate about her faith, devoted mother and daughter she fights for herself and her children to have a better life, the protagonist of the play.
